I was really excited about the Big Sur Half Marathon. It was my goal race of the season, a new and beautiful course, some super fast exciting people would be there (Kara Goucher!) And it’s known to be a fast course so I envisioned a PR day. The only bummer going into it was that my husband had to scratch (not race). This was supposed to be his big race of the season (and he has the Olympic Trials coming up in February) so needless to say, he was bummed. He is fighting an injury and finally decided on Wednesday it just wasn’t going to happen. So that put a bit of a damper on the weekend, but we (husband, myself and our two girls) still decided to all go 🙂 Continue reading
Running has taught me a lot about habits and discipline, which today I realized show up in other areas of my life besides running! Go figure 🙂
This afternoon, I knew I needed to get school work with Elizabeth done and all I could think was “just get out the door” which in terms of running means “put on your shoes and GO, before your brain catches on to what you are doing” and in terms of home school meant, “just sit down, start working, before you decide you are too tired. My husband won the Portland Marathon! It was actually his third time accomplishing this feat, but my first time getting to be there to see it. In fact, get this – this was our first time EVER flying together! What?
